Here are some of the projects that Canada World Youth has worked with in the past:
- CWY formed a partnership with the York Board of Education International Co-operative Education Program to establish 16-week volunteer work placements for grade 12 students in small communities in Ecuador.
- CWY worked with the teacher of a grade 12 high school program called Geoventure, which culminates each year in a two-week project in Costa Rica that includes host family living in a rural community, outdoor excursions for hands-on learning about environmental issues, and volunteer work in the host community and at a National Park.
- CWY worked with the coordinator of an Advanced Youth Leadership Program at the YMCA to plan a four-week project in Chiang Rai, Thailand, where youth leaders would strengthen their understanding of cross-cultural issues, community development, international development, team dynamics, and volunteerism.
- CWY worked with the International Chairperson of the Ontario Girl Guides to plan a two-week experience in cross-cultural living and international volunteerism for 13 Girl Guides in San Rafael de Paquera, Costa Rica.
- CWY worked with two professors of political science and their students at Huron University College on a three-week project in Monteverde, Costa Rica, focusing on development, biodiversity and eco-tourism.
- CWY worked with a group of 17 students from a school specializing in international education to plan a two-week trip to Costa Rica where they were able to immerse themselves in the Latin American culture and also learn Spanish.
- CWY worked with an adult education centre to give a group of 12 youths who had dropped out of school a three-week project in Mexico meant to help develop participants’ self-esteem.
