- You will become more familiar with different aspects of community and international development.
- You will learn a new language (maybe even two!) by being immersed in it.
- You will discover that you can participate actively in the development of just, harmonious and sustainable societies
- Your résumé will have an international flair.
- You will find your place in the world as an active global citizen.
You will acquire skills, attitudes and knowledge such as:
- Adaptability
- Leadership
- Cross-cultural communication
- Teamwork
- Language learning
- Organization
- Critical thinking
- Problem solving
- Conflict resolution
- Intimate knowledge about two unique places in the world
You will be able to put all of these skills to use for years to come, in all that you do. Plus, you may be able to receive academic credit for the program!

Return/follow-up
You’ll soon realize that your learning doesn’t end when the program concludes – but it opens many new doors to other opportunities. After completing the program, Canada World Youth will provide you with information on how you can ensure your experience is reflected in your résumé. We encourage you to maintain your involvement with Canada World Youth through our regional volunteer and past participant networks. In addition, we’ll provide you with ideas on how you can bring all that you learned into your daily life at home: by giving presentations on your experience, volunteering locally, getting involved in causes that interest you, etc.
